Trust & Transparency

FeedPup Editorial Policy

Our commitment to independence, accuracy, and accountability — published openly so you can hold us to it.

FeedPup is a small independent publication. To maintain trust with our readers, we follow the editorial standards on this page without exception. If you ever see us violate them, email hello@feedpup.com and we'll fix it.

Our 5 editorial pillars

Independence

No brand can pay for a ranking. Period.

Honesty

Pros and cons. No product is perfect.

Testing

If we haven't tested it, we won't rank it.

Accuracy

Sources cited. Facts checked. Mistakes corrected publicly.

Transparency

Methodology + author + commercial relationships disclosed.

Independence from brands

Brands cannot pay for placement

FeedPup earns affiliate commissions when readers purchase through our links. This compensation never influences editorial rankings or recommendations. Brands cannot pay to appear in "Best Of" lists, get higher placement, or have negative reviews removed.

How affiliate relationships work

FeedPup uses affiliate links and is in the process of joining:

  • Amazon Associates Program
  • Impact.com (The Farmer's Dog, Ollie, Spot & Tango, Sundays for Dogs, Wild Earth, etc.)
  • ShareASale (Petco, BarkBox, Pupford)
  • CJ Affiliate (PetSmart, Tractor Supply)

When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This is disclosed at the top of every page that contains affiliate links.

Free product testing samples

We may receive free samples of products from brands for testing purposes. Receiving free samples never guarantees a positive review or any review at all. Many products tested don't make it into our recommendations. When we accept samples, we disclose it in the review.

Content standards

Real-dog testing required

Every product recommendation on FeedPup is evaluated against AAFCO standards, ingredient quality, FDA recall history, peer-reviewed canine GI veterinary research, and aggregated verified-buyer outcomes. Top picks receive a real-world testing follow-up once our founder's adoption is complete. Read the full methodology.

Author transparency

Every article is bylined with the actual author's name. We never publish content under fake personas or fabricated credentials. The current author/editor is John, founder of FeedPup. He is a pet parent, not a veterinarian, and we never imply otherwise.

Medical content disclosure

FeedPup is not a veterinary or medical resource. Articles about dog health, symptoms, or nutrition are written from a pet parent perspective and are clearly marked. Always consult your veterinarian for medical advice. When we hire a board-certified veterinary nutritionist as Medical Reviewer (planned for 2026), articles will be marked as "Reviewed by [Name], DVM" only when actually reviewed.

AI use disclosure

FeedPup articles are written by humans. AI tools (like Grammarly or spell-checkers) may be used for proofreading, but core content, opinions, test results, and recommendations are always human-written. We do not publish AI-generated content masquerading as human writing.

Accuracy & corrections

Sources we trust

For factual claims about dog nutrition, ingredients, and health, we cite or reference:

We do not cite content farms, paid PR placements, or AI-generated summaries.

Corrections policy

If we publish something wrong, we fix it openly:

  • Major errors (factual mistakes, wrong product info, broken affiliate links): Fixed immediately + dated correction note at top of article.
  • Minor errors (typos, formatting): Fixed silently.
  • Outdated info (price changes, formula changes, recalls): Updated and "Last updated" date refreshed.

Spot a mistake? Email hello@feedpup.com. Verified corrections get a public acknowledgment.

Reader privacy

FeedPup uses Google Analytics and basic cookie tracking for site performance and affiliate attribution. We do not sell reader data. Newsletter subscriptions are managed through MailerLite — unsubscribe anytime. Full details in our Privacy Policy.

Updates to this policy

This editorial policy may be updated as FeedPup grows. Major changes will be announced in our newsletter and dated on this page.
