The short version
FeedPup makes money through affiliate links. When you buy through our links, we earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. We only recommend products I'd feed my own dogs. No brand can pay for a ranking.
1. What are affiliate links?
An affiliate link is a special URL that includes a tracking code. When you click an affiliate link on FeedPup and make a purchase, the merchant (Amazon, Chewy, Petco, etc.) attributes that sale to FeedPup and pays us a small commission.
The price you pay is the same. The commission comes out of the merchant's marketing budget — not from your wallet.
2. Why FeedPup uses affiliate links
Running this site costs money:
- Hosting and domain fees
- Test product purchases (we test most products at our own expense)
- Time spent testing, writing, photography, and editing
- Future hire of a board-certified veterinary nutritionist
Affiliate commissions cover these costs and let us keep the site free for readers — no paywalls, no subscription required.
3. Affiliate programs we participate in
FeedPup uses affiliate links and is in the process of joining the following affiliate programs:
Amazon Associates
1-3% commission on dog food and pet products purchased on Amazon US.
Impact.com
The Farmer's Dog, Ollie, Spot & Tango, Sundays for Dogs, We Feed Raw, Wild Earth, Chewy, etc.
ShareASale
Petco, BarkBox, Pupford, Native Pet, and other pet brands.
CJ Affiliate
PetSmart, Tractor Supply, and other pet retailers.
4. How this affects what we recommend
It doesn't. Here's the rule:
Brands cannot pay to appear in or rank higher in any "Best Of" list. Editorial decisions are made independently of commercial relationships. If a low-commission product is the best, it ranks #1. If a high-commission product is mediocre, it doesn't make the list.
5. Specific Amazon disclosure (FTC required)
FeedPup.com is applying to participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. The official Amazon Associate disclosure will appear here once our application is approved.
6. Free product samples
Brands may send us free samples of products for testing. Receiving a free sample does not guarantee a positive review or any review at all. Many products tested don't make it into our recommendations. When we accept and test a free sample, we disclose it in the review.
7. Sponsored content
FeedPup currently does not publish sponsored content or paid posts. If we ever do, sponsored content will be:
- Clearly labeled "Sponsored" or "Paid Partnership" at the top
- Marked with a different visual style
- Disclosed in the article body
8. Cookie disclosure
When you click an affiliate link, the merchant sets a cookie on your browser. This cookie tracks your activity on the merchant's site for a limited time (typically 1-30 days, depending on the merchant). The cookie attributes any purchase you make to FeedPup. We do not see your purchase data — only commission earnings.
9. How to support FeedPup (or not)
If you find our reviews helpful and want to support our work:
- Buy through our links when you make a purchase
- Subscribe to our newsletter
- Share articles with friends
You're never obligated to buy through our links. If you'd rather buy directly from a brand or another retailer, that's totally fine. We appreciate you reading either way.
